Lunar New Year greeting card with Stampin’ Up Symbols of Fortune papers

Out of the Stampin’ Up January – June 2022 mini catalog, the Symbols of Fortune DSP (designer series papers) are my favourite. I did not buy the Crane of Fortune stamp set though; I already have a Hero Arts Ink Painting Scene stamp set that has cranes and mountains.

The papers in this designer series are really beautiful; the photos didn’t do them justice because they lack contrast in pictures. The papers feature peonies, cranes and ginkgo leaves primarily, and the colours are soft but elegant with gold in some of them.

I made a slimline card with three of the paper designs, completed with a piece of vellum and a gold string.

Framed Art

Thankfully, papercrafting isn’t restricted to just greeting cards. For Chinese New Year, I also created two 8×8″ framed arts to hang on my wall using the same papers.

The first one I did was with Hero Arts Color Layering Koi stamps. I added a piece of vellum in between the designer series papers, along with some sequins and Scrapbook.com Pops of Color in clear.

Here’s another wall art I made with the papers. I also used the dies from Stampin’ Up Intricate Leaves to make the branches. I carved and stamped the Chinese word for blessing in the middle using a piece of rubber, purchased at Oomomo in Markham, Ontario.
