It’s Spring, and gnomes are popping up everywhere. What better time than now to make a sunflowers and gnome card?
Trinity Stamps The Bright Side
For this card, I am using The Bright Side stamp from Trinity Stamps. Something about the two sunflowers over his eyes really makes me smile. I had also coloured this stamp many times when I tested alcohol markers and no line colouring.
If you need a quick mood boost, look no further than this 3×4″ photopolymer stamp set. It retails at US$7.99 and it’s made in the USA.
Carabelle Studio Sunflower cling stamp set
For the background of this sunflowers and gnome card, I used the bees and the Sunflower stamp by Carabelle Studio. These French-made rubber stamps grip ink very well. I used only the flower part of the sunflower and stamped it repeatedly to create a patterned background. Though I had stamped the bees, I ended up covering them with the gnome. I thought it was too busy with the bees and I wanted the gnome to be the focus.
Making the Sunflowers and Gnome Card
I coloured the stamped image of the gnome and sunflowers with Ohuhu alcohol markers, Stampin’ Blends and Spectrum Noir Classique in Exquisite Pastels. For the top layer, I embossed the yellow cardstock paper with Layered Leaves Dynamic Textured Impressions embossing folder. You can use any complementary floral type embossing folder for this. I then cut the piece with a circle die to create the opening.
I used dimensionals/adhesive foams on the yellow cardstock, as well as the gnome to create more depth to the card.
As a finishing touch, I added a few Butterfly Gems from Stampin’ Up and a bow to the sunflowers and gnome card. These were discontinued, but you can add any small, sparkly embellishments for the same effect. I picked the butterflies in the terracotta shade to complement the colours of the card. The card size is 10.8x14cm/4.25×5.5″, which is the standard A2 card.
Voilà! Here’s the sunflowers and gnome card:
