I just bought Stampin’ Up Timeless Tulips stamp set as part of the retiring list/last chance sale. It is a disinktive set and so pretty for Spring, Easter and Mother’s Day!
At first glance at the set, I was a little skeptical how it will turn out. However, once I started stamping, it turned out quite well. This is a stamp-heavy set of designs, so be ready for lots of stamping!
Stampin’ Up Timeless Tulips Design #1
The first card I have made I used yellow and coral for the tulips, and a light green for the leaves. The effect was soft and pastel. I had initially added some lemon chiffon Pops of Color from Scrapbook.com, but regretted it because the yellow did not match the Tsukineko Memento Dew Drop in Dandelion that I have stamped the tulips with. I scraped the pops of colour out and put the Butterfly Gems from Stampin’ Up (discontinued) on top to cover the slightly damaged surfaces of the paper.
Along with the yellow, I have added some Pops of Color in Clear on the card as well. The placements were not ideal but I didn’t want to damage the card any further so I left them be.
Overall, I find this one a little too busy with the butterflies, so I moved on and designed a few more cards.
Stampin’ Up Timeless Tulips Design #2
For the second card, I used the same scrapbook paper from my chocolate bunny Easter card to layer between the card front and the card base. This time, however, I wanted a pink and purple card. In addition, I created a distressed look by flicking specks of white paint all over the Stampin’ Up Timeless Tulips stamped image. I added a few Butterfly Gems to this design also.
Design #3
The third card is almost identical to the second one, except the sentiment is different and the colours of the tulips are not exact. I still used the same ink set from Altenew to stamp the tulips, but I made the darkest purple to be the centre, biggest tulip. I distressed the stamped image with flecks of white paint, but did not add the butterfly gems.
Design #4
For this design, I used the smallest tulip from the Stampin’ Up Timeless Tulips set. I added a ribbon (also from Stampin’ Up) as an accent.
I did not use any sentiment for this card. This will be a blank note card for all occasions.
Patterned Papers
I created a couple of distressed patterned papers with the Stampin’ Up Timeless Tulips set. On the left, I was experimenting with a darker distressed look with flecks of dark brown paint. Both white and dark flecks of paint looked pretty good with these tulips.
All in all, I had fun stamping. Sometimes, I find there is too much die-cutting and not enough stamping. This set is the opposite, so if you like doing lots of stamping, you will enjoy this set.
