Tropical/Island themed greeting cards

Hi friends! I made these tropical island greeting cards recently from stamp sets I have not used. Maybe you could relate, but I find that buying and using supplies are two different hobbies! 😛 Anyway, these are some of the sets used in making these greeting cards:

Of course, you don’t need the exact sets to make these. Any similar tropical themed stamps and dies will do.

This card uses almost all of the sets mentioned in the list, with the exception of Stampin’ Up Timeless Tropicals. Of course, you can change the message to something else, as needed. Don’t forget to create a matching themed envelope to go with it!

Round Window Cut Palm Trees Card

This is my favourite tropical island greeting card of the bunch. In particular, the use of the embossing folder adds a nice texture to the card. In addition, I used a blending brush to create the ombré effect in the background.

Big Hibiscus Cards

These two cards are centered with the large hibiscus stamp from Stampin’ Up’s Timeless Tropical stamp set. The first one, with die cut leaves, require a bit more time to make, but the effect is worth it. Moreover, I used felt instead of paper for the small white flowers to give texture.

Here, the second large hibiscus card is more simple. So if you prefer more colouring with pencils, this is an easy one to do.

This one is seemingly simple, but requires using a round stencil. I used a blending brush to apply two stamp inks to create the ombré effect, just like the card with the embossing folder. However, instead of using felt for the white flowers, I used cardstock paper.

Shopping My Stash

As part of the under-consumption trend, and also running out of room in my studio, I am consciously buying less. It is easy to fall for every single new release, but unless it is something I don’t have, I am skipping it.

Are you shopping any new releases? What catches your eye?

Until next time, happy crafting!
