Sweet Orange Christmas Cards
Sweet Orange Christmas Cards

I just made these sweet orange Christmas cards for this holiday season!

This year, I decided to shop my stash and use what I already have, instead of buying a new set of stamps to make Christmas cards. It could be part of the “under consumption” trend, or simply saving money. Either way, I am glad I made these.

Citrus Themed Holiday Cards

Why citrus, you ask?

Verily, citrus isn’t what I typically associate Christmas with, but a Yuzu cheesecake at my favourite restaurant inspired me. And when I looked up citrus and Christmas, there are definitely a lot of people who make that association. In addition, most make cards pairing orange with cinnamon sticks, which looked really festive.

I am sold.

A while back I bought a set of stamp and dies from Papertrey Ink called Sweet Orange Holidays which I never used, so what better time to try them out than now?

By the way, I busted out a few other Christmas stamps to complement the theme as well. You don’t need this stamp set; any citrus themed sets will do. You can swap the orange with lemon if that’s what you have.

Here are the 6 “prototypes” I have made:

Pink Card Front

I love using a non-traditional colour scheme for Christmas. In fact, I have used pastel pink and green in my Spellbinders Gnome Drive Christmas cards before, and this time, I wanted to use pink again. For five of the cards, I used a very pale blushed pink card front; the last one used a darker pink. They turned out quite well.

Accents

Accents really make the card. For these sweet orange Christmas cards, I used gold sequins and Scrapbook.com’s Pops of Color in Rudolph Red. The Pops of Colors are great to use as finishing touches because they do not require adhesive and provide dimensions to your cards.

So have you made your Christmas cards yet? What theme will you be going for this year?
