Gnome Drive Christmas Card Design with red and gold foil
Gnome Drive Christmas Card Design #3

Hello, Friends! It’s that time of the year when you start looking for ideas for Christmas cards. I must admit, I was disappointed with a lot of the releases to see the same old, same old. I didn’t find anything I liked until, of course, I saw the Spellbinders Gnome Drive Christmas dies. Being a gnome fanatic, I knew I had to have them. I bought mine at 123Stitch.com, which charges the lowest fees for shipping to Canada (US$4.99). I received my order 2 weeks after I placed my order.

This is the main set for Spellbinders Gnome Drive collection. Like some of the other Spellbinders releases, only the main set comes with the main components like the cars and the gnomes, and the additional sets usually come with just the add-ons to do a specific theme. For example, this collection also has Halloween, Valentine’s Day, Spring and Graduation. In addition, it has a sentiments-only stamp set.

The Holiday set comes with 13 dies, including the gnome and the car.

I made three cards with these dies. Moreover, I used Tim Holtz x Sizzix embossing folder in Snowfall for the background.

By the way, I am a huge sucker for pastel colours. If you are tired of the traditional Christmas card colours in red and green, this is a refreshing alternative. The gold somehow goes well with the pastel pink and greens.

I also put in some sequins in pink and gold to complement the theme. In addition, I used felt for the trees in all three cards to give a bit of texture. Furthermore, for this card, I used white felt for the beard, tip of the hat and mittens.

On the trees (for all three cards), I also used the Wink of Stella to give a hint of sparkles. The shimmer doesn’t show up in these photos, though.

I decided to continue with the pastel theme for the second card. However, this time I used silver instead of gold, since it goes better with the pale lilac car. I had glued in three snowflake sequins on the embossed background to accent the card.

For the third card, I used more traditional Christmas colours. I used a black cardstock for the embossed background, accented with snowflake sequins. For the card base and the car, I used red foil paper. In addition, I used gold foil paper for the gnome’s hat, as well as the bow on the present. I also added a couple of candy canes from another set of dies to give that traditional Christmas feel.
