Happy New Year! I have this Lightwish Watercolour Calendar review for you on New Year’s Day, since it’s only fitting. Without further ado, let’s dive right in!

Lightwish Watercolour Calendar Review
Lightwish Watercolour Calendar package (back)

This is my first time doing a DIY watercolour calendar. At the time of review, this retails for CAD$18.99, but I bought it for $15.99 during the Prime Day sale. It consists of 12 sheets of 8.25″x5.75″ cold pressed paper. Each sheet is made with 100% cotton and weighs 140lb/300gsm.

By the way, the calendar comes with a wooden easel that looks like a bunny.

I had used Lightwish 100% cotton watercolour before; I found the paper to be thick enough but a bit too sized for my liking. It felt like there was too much coating and as a result, the paints did not layer well and tended to lift when layered. However, this paper in the calendar does not suffer from the same problem; the paints did not lift and I had an easy time painting.

Please forgive the paintings, though. I had a rough year last year losing my mother very unexpectedly and my creativity took a nosedive.

By the way, the downside of painting these calendar pages is that it felt like painting the first page of a journal–there was so much pressure for the paintings to come out perfect. I must admit I didn’t quite plan out what to paint. Only by the third one that I actually thought of a theme and sketched out what to paint.

I painted 3 so far, enough to review the quality of the paper. As you can see, it took in salt quite well. I am happy with this paper. Furthermore, each month has a couple of different quotes related to art.

So, there you have it, my quick review of Lightwish Watercolour Calendar of 2026. I recommend it to anyone who wants that challenge of painting something that they will be displaying for the entire month, and doesn’t break the bank while doing so.

P.S. This calendar is sold out at the time I posted this, but if you want to purchase this in the future I hope this review gives you enough information to act on it while supplies last.

The snow-covered flowers are lovely and really give a sense of cold.
